Proactive Teen Support (Preventive Care)
Support is also available for teens who are not in crisis, but may be entering periods of change, transition, or early emotional strain.
This can include situations such as:
* Parents going through separation or divorce
* Changes in home environment, custody, or family structure
* School transitions, relocation, or major life changes
* COVID-related or ongoing social anxiety and isolation
* Withdrawal from friends, family, or previously enjoyed activities
* Sudden changes in academic performance or motivation
* Loss of interest in sports, hobbies, or extracurricular activities
* Early experimentation or exposure to vaping or other risky influences
* Increased emotional sensitivity, irritability, or shutdown behaviors
These early signs don’t mean something is “wrong” — they often signal that a young person is trying to adjust to change without enough support, tools, or connection.
Our goal in proactive support is to strengthen protective factors early by encouraging:
* Open communication and emotional awareness
* Healthy self-esteem and identity development
* Positive peer engagement and social connection
* Healthy relationships and boundary-setting
* Emotional regulation and coping skills
* Sobriety-informed education and prevention awareness
* Community involvement and purpose-building
This approach is focused on keeping teens on a healthy path early — before patterns deepen or become more difficult to manage later.
